You may have heard that each of our super soft Allmade tees are made with six recycled water bottles. Our concern for the environment doesn’t stop there. On a typical day at the Greek Corner, we receive thousand of t-shirts ready to be screen printed. Of course, those shirts arrive in dozens and dozens of cardboard boxes. Since we deliver our custom printed t-shirts in our own private label boxes, that’s hundreds of extra cardboard boxes every week. Instead of tossing them in the dumpster, we make a trip every week to the City of Springfield Recycling Center on Franklin street. As good stewards of the environment, we are always looking for ways to make the world a better place.
We are excited to have our owner Jason Parke, featured in the latest issue of Biz417. A screen printed t-shirt isn’t just a shirt. Sure, you want it to be soft, comfortable and stylish. But, it’s more than that. It’s a story, a message, your statement. At The Greek Corner, we help you tell your story. We’re your partner in finding solutions that solve your apparel needs. Our artists will create a design that will make it the favorite t-shirt in your closet. We make the process easy, and—just as importantly—we won’t miss your deadline. We care about 417-land. It is our home, and you are our people. That’s why we are so excited to offer our MoneyTees Online Fundraising Stores. In 2018 alone, we helped raise $30,000 for local people and organizations. The Greek Corner Screen Printing and Embroidery provides “More Than Just a Great T-shirt.”
Why is it that you request a one color print, but you are quoted a two color price? It’s probably because the color in your design will require a base print. In layman’s terms, a base print is like a primer. If you screen print an ink color on a dark shirt, the ink will “soak” into the fabric of the shirt and look splotchy. The ink will lose it’s brightness and the actual ink color will be discolored. By laying down a base coat of white, it seals the fabric and allows the following ink color to be as brilliant color as intended. The photos below illustrate the difference between a print with and without a base. The image on the left has no base, the image on the right does have a base.

When designing a custom screen printed t-shirt, an important factor in the design is the selecting the type of print that best fits the look and style you are trying to achieve. The following two options will make an huge impact on how your t-shirt will look.
Opaque. For decades, screen printers have use an opaque print for t-shirts. An opaque print means the colors are more vibrant and bold. The whites are very bright. Printing this style requires a white base and creates a thicker layer of ink printed on the shirt. You can see an illustration of opaque printing below.
Vintage. We offer a “new” vintage screen printing style that has become very popular. This effect creates an image that appears to be old and worn. The vintage print is created by making only one pass of the squeegee over the screen. In addition to creating a stylish appearance, it is leaves a thinner coat of ink which is softer to the touch. It is especially attractive on our fashion tees like Allmade, Next Level, and Bella Canvas. After all, who wants a ultra thin, super soft t-shirt with a big patch of plastic ink printed on their chest? At this time, 75 – 80% of all of our customer printed t-shirts feature a vintage print. An example of vintage printing is shown below.

Chances are good you’ve purchased or received a custom printed t-shirt at some point in your life. Perhaps you participated in a charity event, joined a sports league, or supported your favorite band with the purchase of a cool, new tee. Any occasion is a great time for a new tee. If you’re interested in creating a custom tee but don’t know if, or when, or if it’s appropriate, check these TOP TEN reasons to create your own custom t-shirts.
TOP TEN Reasons to Create Custom T-shirts
When you’re wearing the same custom t-shirt as someone else, you know that you’re connected. Custom t-shirts instill your school student body with pride or your workplace with a sense of team spirit.
Construction workers are taking advantage of three safety colors, Safety Green, Safety Orange, and Safety Pink to standout on the job site. When you have your company logo custom printed on one of these three shirts, it will be easy for others to spot your crew and avoid accidents. Adding a safety message on the front of the shirt is a great way to reinforce the importance of safety on the job site.
A custom t-shirt can provide both monetary and emotional support. For example, fans of sports team and bands often wear graphic tees purchased from a vendor representing the group. In addition, you will often see groups wearing matching t-shirts during walks that raise money for medical research of special causes. Often you will see groups wearing tees that support a loved one fighting a disease. For example: “Team Tara” or “Wesley’s Warriors”
Many people create custom t-shirts to celebrate a special occasion such as a family reunion, Nana’s birthday or bachelorette party. You can create tees to celebrate an accomplishment, such as a winning a dance championship or band competition. Celebratory shirts also bond the group together.
Custom tees also are used for practical reasons like identification. With a logo on the front and a name and number on the back, sports teams use tees as their uniforms. Volunteers at charity events and counselors at camp can be easily identified when they wear specific shirt colors. These t-shirts also instill a sense of teamwork and pride.
Sometimes custom tees are created purely for the sake of art. There is just something about seeing one of your designs being worn on a shirt by someone at the mall.
A custom t-shirt can be a wonderful gift for friends, family, or colleagues. A graphic designer may create custom tees for all of their friends. A travel consultant may give custom tees to their clients as a souvenir. And who wouldn’t want a really cool tee wrapped under the Christmas tree.
Custom printed t-shirts are widely used to promote a company and increase revenue. Universities often use t-shirts as promotional items for prospective students. Companies use free t-shirts for conventions, job fairs and festivals.
Selling custom made t-shirts are a great way to raise money. Whether it’s buying a t-shirt to support the tornado victims in Joplin, MO and Moore, OK or contributing to help pay the medical bills of a child, people want to help. At the Greek Corner, our MoneyTees program makes raising money so easy, you’ll think it grows trees.
Whether it’s to Save a Tree, Save the Planet or Jesus Saves…nothing expresses your opinion quite like a bold, graphic, custom printed tee.
